I still say dry lube wearing off. It looks Exactly like my bushmaster did when I got some solvent on the dry lube durring my 1st cleaning. You say it happened when you were cleaning . Also , there is no chrome on that part of the upper reciever to wear off.
1 question, was it all black before or all grey? The dry lube is normally light grey and when it peels off it shows black reciever underneath. |

There is no chrome in the upper receiver, it's anodized aluminum. |
