Im probably going to get yelled at for having a similiar post in ar discussions but i figure people are not responding as it is in the wrong section.

I have a Sabre Defence XR15 I purchased it February 12 this year. Ive only put about 200 rounds through it so far havent modified anything except for adding a carry handle and a strap. I clean it just about everytime i fired it so far i lube the piss out of it.

Cleaning it today i noticed this

Which worries me, is this the chrome lining coming off? is this normal wear and tear of AR's? I am new to the black gun and i dont want my $1300 stick being all effed up already. Obviously some of it i can tell is glistening from the oil but if you notice on the opposite side of the dust cover it looks all multi colored.

Difficult to say for sure without a better picture, but it looks like the anodizing is not very healthy.

I'd contact Sabre about that.

I agree. There shouldn't be much (if any) wear on that part of the receiver. It looks to me like the anodizing is peeling off (if that's possible??).

I didnt think so I would assume that it would still be covered under the warranty. It is very odd too because i researched Sabre and people dont usually have bad things to say about em.

I still say dry lube wearing off. It looks Exactly like my bushmaster did when I got some solvent on the dry lube durring my 1st cleaning. You say it happened when you were cleaning . Also , there is no chrome on that part of the upper reciever to wear off.

1 question, was it all black before or all grey? The dry lube is normally light grey and when it peels off it shows black reciever underneath.

I agree, dry lube, but that picture is out of focus so it's hard to say for sure.  There is no chrome in the upper receiver, it's anodized aluminum.
