I am sorry but posting this because I am sure there is something like it that I have not seen.  I was wondering if you guys could let me know the best kit to buy for cleaning my AR.  I am new to the ar and am just about the wrap up my first build and I need to break in the barrel.  I was looking at the Otis or clean bore kit from Midway for 35$.  Is this missing anything that I shoudl have?

Dewey is one of the better ones out there. I use a $15 rifle cleaning kit from Walmart it works fine with some hoppes #9 and hoppes gun oil.Sometimes I'll just use Breakfree CLP  a boresnake  a toothbrush and some rags That being said. IF you have a Chrome lined barrel I wouldn't do any special break in cleaning procedure just go out and shoot a couple hundered rounds and clean it when it gets dirty or you notice a drop in performance.

Cleaning an AR is fairly easy.
Best is a matter of opinion.

Is basically what I was issued when I was in the army.
For the money, you should be able to score a USGI surplus kit for about $20. at a surplus store (near you or online)
A lot of people do not like to use the steel rods as it may damage the bore or scratch the barrel. I can see this happening, however, I used this system for years and never found it to affect accuracy. (NOTE: I am not a competition shooter).

Is the civilian version of the USGI Otis kit. (The parts are brass colored and not subdued (black)).
I have a couple of otis kits and I really like them.

But to be honest, most of the time I still rely on BreakFree Powder Blast for the initial cleaning,
then use Hoppes #9 for a good bore cleaning and run a mop down the barrel.
I still use the USGI steel rods I have had for 20+ yrs., Hoppes #9 and a GI toothbrush on the bolt and still lube with Breakfree CLP.

Boresnakes are also good, I have a few of those around.

Most of the cleaning supplies are available at walmart. (If you want to use a mop with USGI cleaning rods, you need an adapter - threads are different)
Otis has video clips about cleaning on their website - of course they believe their kits are the best.
