Here's how my chamber looks like after 90 rounds : http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2538/4204751987_02d3394f8f_b.jpg after I cleaned it : http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2802/4205510256_dd73d896b4_b.jpg Am I doing a sloppy job? I don't have a good Chamber Brush with a T-handle. anyone knows where to get one? |

Quoted: haha I'm sorry I'm a n00b! how dirty does it get? or rather, how dirty would it be before I had to clean it? :) My beater rifle goes about 1000-1500 rounds between cleanings... then again, that one is just a toy. The rifle that my life depends on, gets cleaned much more frequently.... however it also gets a lot dirtier then yours was...... how many rounds did you have through it when you took the pic? |

Out of stock at Midway right now but here's a link to it. I bought mine at the local gun shop for $28. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=163348 |

Quoted: another question, are the gold/copper marks on the feed ramp normal? or should I make sure it's mark free? or am I getting too OCD with this cleaning thing? Take a step away from the cleaning supplies until your gun is dirty...... a good goal to shoot for is that it's so dirty that it malfunctions. At that point you'll know just how dirty you can get your gun before it stops working. Once it stops working, throw more oil on the bolt and continue shooting till failure. At some point, you'll have so much crud inside the action that you will need a tool to scrape it out before you use wipes. Next you'll be asking what chemicals to use on the gun. |
| I go 1K rounds or so between cleaning my carbine. Then I give it a good shot of WIpe Out and scrub the rest with CLP. Then blow out the tube with compressed air. By the time I'm done scrubbing the BCG I'm ready to take the Wipe Out out of the bore and after a couple of paases she's bright and shiny. Works for me as I've never had a malfunction in any of the 7 Ar's I've built. |

Quoted: While your at it post a picture of you ass after you take a dump so we can make sure you wiped correctly and see if you got all the dingle berries hanging from your ass hair. I'd do that but I'm having diarrhea right now after all the Christmas food that I consumed yesterday. Any pics will look all smudgy and difficult to examine. Sorry! |

Quoted: is that rust on the feed ramps and gas tube or just a bad picture. that's not rust. the gas tube is caused by lighting. The feed ramp is caused by the bullets when it's rammed into the chamber. Just need to scrub it more I guess. sheesh when did I get this OCD!! |

It depends on how hard you are running your gun. If your running 1k a day say in a typical course then you'd definetly want to consider cleaning it after each 1k.
If your just running a few hundred here and there then id say clean it after every 2-2.5k A dirty but well lubed gun should function properly if correct lubrication is applied |
