This is a dumb question, but here it goes:

Is BreakFree Bore Cleaning Foam safe to use on Chrome Lined barrels ?

The questions you don't ask because you think they are "dumb" are the dumb queations. Your question is a good one and I don't have an answer. However, I am anxious to read the replies. Chrome is a hard coating and I suspect there will not be a problem.

You could email the tech rep dept of Bushmaster and ask them. I just obtained a new bushmaster three weeks ago and have asked them several questions. Their response has been quick and their answers have been clearly on the conservative side. If they think the foam is not good for the barrel I am sure they will be quick to say so.

Good luck

It is safe to use on a chrome lined barrel.  Follow the instructions; something like leave it in 15 minutes?  I like foaming bore cleaner.

Safe, I've been using it on Chrome for a while now with no ill effects!

Thank you for taking the time to reply guys.

It's good to know that it is safe, because it sounds like it is some good stuff for cleaning out the bore.

Been using it on my chromed bores for just over a year and a half. Never a problem.

As far as its effectiveness, it is some aggressive stuff and has cut down my barrel cleaning time to a tenth of what it used to be.

BF foaming bore cleaner is definitely "da bomb"!

I've started using Wipe-Out. Works very well for me.

Only thing to watch for with foaming bore cleaner is that it can leave a residue when dry. I called the manufacturer and they recommend shooting brake cleaner/gun scrubber down the gas tube after your done cleaning just to make sure it doesn't build up. I realize the gas tube is under extremely high pressure, so it would likely blow it out anyway, but I figure it doesn't hurt.

I second this. I know Quib mentioned it was a good idea as well.

Wipe Out is safe but the other stuff I don't know about. Don't mess with the other junk only use real Wipe out.

Break-Free's foaming bore cleaner is no lesser of a product than Wipe-Out's, but yea some of the other foaming bore cleaners are known not to be chrome friendly.

I remember back when I was researching this stuff two of the top brands ended up being the same, Break-Free and Wipe-Out may even use the same formula.
