Just wondering.  Are there any other JB Bore Cleaner users on this board?

I have used their paste in conjunction with Kroil...works well, although FBC's are easier to use...

I use it for a 264 Win mag that likes to leave copper in the barrel. This along with alternating cleanings (ie no mixing) with Kroil and then Shooters choice (or Sweets if the copper is really bad) works well.
For 99.9% of "AR" applications, most likely not needed.

I use USP paste and Kroil.  The combination will remove fouling that NH3 solvents leave behind - particularly that lumpy black stuff.

One of my 11.5s became a 12 MOA bullet-tumbling blaster (well, its had nothing but mag dumps X over 6k rounds).  But after the paste treatment its shooting as well as ever.  Fouls quickly, though.  I imagine the barrel is shot out - throat is pretty rude for the first 3+ inches.  The abrasives are like life-support.  Whether a barrel is worth the extra effort can be debated.

I've used it as well as remington 40x.  I prefer the remington stuff as it is easier to apply and it seems to do a good job.

Is it true that this stuff can damage of scratch a bore? It is said the abrasive is softer than steel, but some sources say it is to aggressive.

I've used it to really scrub out some M1's I got from CMP. Just have to be careful you don't clog up any gas vents / orifices when using it on a gas operated system. It did a nice job. I'd imagine using tooth paste or Soft Scrub would work just as well at a much cheaper price.

Over use will kill your barrel. The late Gale McMillan posted about this years ago.

Used properly, no.  The benchrest shooters favor Kroil/paste over NH3+ solvents.  If accuracy life were negatively impacted by USP or JB paste they would know.  If anything, they worry more about etching from prolonged exposure to high-NH3+ cleaners (why I use standard #9, mostly).

I use plain old Hoppes #9 for most cleaning.  If I go to a shoot and run 1000+ rds through a barrel in a coupla days its going to have alot of caked-on carbon that will not respond to non-abrasive chemistry, IME.  You can't believe how much black crap comes out with Kroil/paste after you think you've cleaned it with NH3+ based solvents.

Why would you use the stuff when there are products like Wipe Out available?

Iosso is sold as an equivalent cleaner to JB.  I have a tube of it and have never used it.  Anyone have any first hand info on this?

I've used it to clean the barrels of mil-surp and neglected firearms.  Works great.  I have some Iosso paste to try one of these days.

Krieger barrels says it's OK to use.
And yes, I use it. It will save you 10,000 patches in your life time.
