You can get them in BULK in the "trailer trash" discount stores.

All you really want is the material.  I suggest browsing fabric supply stores.  You'll have to do your own cutting.

Otherwise shop the websites of major retailers for black t-shirts.  Again, cutting them up will be your job.

I happen to wear them on a daily basis, so I have a good supply on hand.

Some good suggestions would be:

- Thrift Store for used t-shirts.

- WalMart Sewing Department, as mentioned above, buy a yard or two of black cotton fabric.

- WalMart Bedding Department, buy a cheap black bed sheet. I bought one to use for a back drop for my photos. I believe it was around $3.

Try Goodwwill. I used to work in a boatyard and they would buy a HUGE box of white rags from Goodwill for a reasonable price. Granted, their not black, but a good source of cheaps (already cut up) rags.

Go to a fabric supply store and buy some interfacing material. I find that it works a lot better than cut up t shirts.

I just use an old tooth brush to dust off all the white lint after I am done cleaning my AR.

Rit Dye is a wonderful product.

My entire work wardrobe consists of black clothing.
I do not want for black gun rags.

Buy a stagehand a beer and you'll have a steady supply of well worn black polo and T shirts at your disposal.

I'll also add that you should skip any fabric softener when you launder cloth intended for cleaning purposes.

Out of curiosity, why black?  I use cut up white shirts instead.  With them being white, I know where the dirt is, and can avoid it if doing a particularly clean wiping.  It also helps determine when it is time to throw it away and move on to the next piece of cloth.

I use white rags as well for cleaning of parts.

The black t-shirts are for the final wipe-down of the exterior of the rifle, where rough exterior finishes can retain lint from the white t-shirts or rags. This is a tip I picked up years ago off the Bushmaster web site.
