Looks normal to me. I use Slick 50 Grease (lightly) on the inside of my upper and BCG. REALLY?!? I was an assisstant armorer in Iraq and looked inside hundreds of uppers with hundreds of rounds down them and have NEVER seen wear like that. What kind of BCG are you running? |
| I'm an armorer and I've never seen that kind of wear mark in any rifle. That doesn't mean it's a serious problem because commercial AR's can have parts from who knows where, and thay all might not be completly in 'spec' the same way the military ones are. I would look for signs that the alluminum in the upper is being worn away. If it's just the anodizing I wouldn't worry too much. |
| Ok, I partially retrack my statement. I just checked one of my ARs. it is a VLTR upper with about 400-500rounds and there is NO wear in the upper like you have. Either you have some really tight components that are just cuzing excess wear or the anadizing was really thin in that area. |
| I have two uppers, both pushing 2k rnds. Ones still black with little to no wear, one is like yours but solid white along the guide rails. I suspect it is coated with teflon or something as it wore down to the white quickly but has never wore down to bare aluminum. It is a none issue to me. |
|
I have a BCM middy with somewhere between 1-1.5k through it at this point and it has very similar wear to those pics in the OP...
Definitely more wear than in my other uppers but it certainly doesn't seem to be hurting anything. Appears to just be the anodizing - no damage to the aluminum itself - and the rifle runs just fine so... If it shoots...
Tag to see what else folks have to say... |
| Normal cam pin wear occurs in front and back of the semi-circular indent below the ejection port, but yours seems to extend well behind this location. Perhaps your cam pin is slightly out of spec. If the wear isn't deep, I wouldn't worry too much about it, otherwise perhaps try a new cam pin. |
