| How many of you remove your optic before you clean? I inevitably get either CLP or some other cleaner on the body of my EOTech and am thinking that it can't be good for it. |

If you have the ability to remove the optic, with return-to-zero capability as mentioned above, then by all means do it. But if you don’t have the ability to remove the optic, try wrapping a plastic bag around it, securing the bag with a rubber band. And don’t forget; EOTechs and Aimpoints are combat optics designed to take some rough handling. A little splatter of CLP on the exterior is not going to harm a thing.

My optics are on a detachable mount designed for the carrying handle. So, when the rifle is cleaned or put away for storage the mount & scope are removed as a complete assembly. I've not experienced much (if any) need to sight-in again when the assembly is mounted onto the rifle. A variety of quick-release scope mounts are available so that owners can remove their rifle scopes for cleaning. Some are for Weaver style mounting points or rails and others are designed for the carrying handle. |
