Is the castle nut sealed on by something b/c I can not get it off. I have put it in a vise but I don't want to tighten it down to much and I can not get that nut to budge. It is a RRA. Any help?

It may have a dab of locktite on it....not sure if RRA does that or not though

Make sure to put a little lube on the threads and let it slide down behind the castle nut.  This may make it easier, and will help prevent cross-threading......don't ask me how I know about cross-threading it

What castle nut? You mean the "Barrel nut"? You don't want to put that in a vice you'll fuck it up , it takes a wrench and may be locktited. You don't need to take it off (the barrel) unless yer changing it no need for cleaning. You'll need a receiver clamp to put it in a vice also.

Hes talking about the castle nut that holds the stock on. And OH YES RRA uses red loctite on those.

Its loads of fun to break loose. Do you have the stock wrench for it?

If RRA uese red your best bet is a propane tourch. Heat up the nut untill you smell the loctite burn off.

yeah I got the wrench for it, I am trying to put a single point sling on with the adapter that goes on behind the castle nut. I will try warming up the nut and see if that works

My RRA wouldn't budge either. Put some heat to it, then it broke free easily.

Yeah that. I have a RRA and just opted for a MI adaptor that slips over the castle nut and tightens around it. works great and took all of about 30 seonds to install.

Sure is, I have the MCTAR-13 however as I use HK Clips on my sling and originally set it up for a single point.

I had no real issues with my RRA.  There was no loctite on it.  I just used a cheap castle nut wrench.  I just put the rifle on the carpet, sat on it, and hit the stock wrench with a mallet and after 2 whacks it came loose.
