I put it in, but it's real tight !!! (Sounds bad, but it's true) I just bought a chamber brush from Bushmaster. I can squeze it into the chamber but it's real tight. I used an old cleaning rod and was unable to turn it by hand. I have heard the brushes are real tight so I grabed ye ol vise grips and hooked on to the old cleaning rod. All it did was twist the threaded end off the cleaning rod. Fixed that and twisted the other way and it unscrews the cleaning rod. I was able to remove the brush but what gives? The brush looks big, but not .308 big. |

Chamber brushes are tight when new. Now a AR chamber brush will be brass with a larger section of stainless steel wires around the top to clean the locking lug area. They do not look like oversize bore brushes. If GI, it should fit onto the end of a M16 rod section. Put it on the end of the handle end then put another rod thru the hole in the end of the handle when it is folded flat against the rod. Use this as a handle to rotate clockwise. Read the posted cleaning tips in this forum. |
CLP ...Yea, that made a difference. Only problem now is the chamber is too clean. Now I have to go back to the range again !!!! Thanks all!! |
What kind of rod is that?? I'm having the same problem. New Chamber brush with an Otis kit. The Otis cable doesnt provide enough torque to get the brush down the chamber. I've looked around and havent found a "fixed" short rod to use in this application. |

i am talking low rotation probably equal to or a little faster then a hand operation i use that method because i hate using the GI issue cleaning rods i don't have any kind of gun rest clamp setup, its a wrestling match with my upper on the garage workbench anybody got some upper clamp set up pics' post them .always looking for a better way to clean my weapon let me know quib nice motto i can live with that “I will maintain my arms, and my equipment, in an immaculate state.....” soon as i get home from the range rifle is cleaned |
