I want to remove the factory sling mount from the gas block on my Bushmaster M4. it's held in place by what I'd call a rivet. What is the best way to remove this? Drill the rivot out? hammer and punch? Thanks!

I’ve done it both ways.

- I’ve taken a pin punch, backed up the barrel with a block of wood, then knocked out the rivet.

- Then other times I’ve taken a drill, and drilled away some of the shop head of the rivet, enough to weaken it. Then,  backed up the barrel with a block of wood and knocked out the rivet.

Check the tacked links on Pg. 1 for the thread on downloadable Mtx Manuals.

Yeah, a punch and small hammer knocked my front sling swivel pin right out.  Up to know I'm not missing it.

I Dremel'd it out with a small cone shaped bit and then gave it a whack with a punch.  I figured that'd be a better POA than going on my FSB.

I yanked all the factory sling mounts off my AR in favor of a rail mount.  The only purpose they were serving was getting in my way.
