I has a bore snake. If I put a little bit of CLP on it and run it through once is that good enough so it is ready? And also is CLP bad for cleaning the bore (chrome lined)? Should I be using solvent after I use the CLP or before or none at all if it is chrome lined? Thanks |
I will run my boar snake down the barrel to get out the gunk before I go home and finish my cleaning. I do not think that it will get out everything that needs to come out though. Somethings just take a little time to be done right but I am one of those sickos who enjoy cleaning my AR.![]() CLP is great for cleaning your barrel with it is GTG. |

Welcome to the board. CLP works great on everything. If I don't have time to clean my rifles the evening after shooting I'll give the bore a good shot of CLP and let it sit for a while (hour or so, let the chemicals do the work), then pull a bore snake through about five times. Then reapply some CLP to the bore. I'll still need to go back and clean the whole gun at some point, but this keeps the bore in good shape. If it's a gun with a piston (FAL, M14, AK) I'll also go over the piston real good with some CLP to keep all the carbon from getting rock hard. Leave the chemicals on, let them do their job. |
| I am a fan of CLP but really like ShootersChoice. I used it for years in my bolt gun and it works great for removing copper. I don't used a bore snake though. I use a good bore guide, a Dewey cleaning rod, good brushes and plenty of cotton patches. Maybe I am just a little old fasion. |
I am about the same Can't go wrong with CLP Keep meaning to try one of those snakes tho
