I posted this in another forum, and well got nowhere quick. Maybe this should have been where I went first.

What's the best way to store spare bolts and like parts?

I put two spare bolts in a plastic sandwich bag lightly covered in oil.

That's the way I store my bigger parts - lightly lubed in a baggie. For small pins, screws, nuts, bolts, whatever, I usually use a small divided parts bin.

Nothing fancy and it works.

Here in Hawaii, the salt air content is high so anything that can rust will rust in short time.  Because of this I oil all my parts and store them in zip-loc type bags.   I've been doing it this way for over 10yrs and no rust at all.    I think it's a good idea to store them in bags and it certainly won't hurt any.   FWIW, I get the bags from Brownells as they sell an assortment of diff sizes.

Coat your parts with a light film of oil, wrap in VCI paper, then vacuum seal them in plastic bags.
