I had oiled my guns and pistols with breakfree clp for about 3 to 4 yrs. I put silicone impregnated gun socks over my weapons and then put them in a gun case for storage. I just looked and reoiled my guns for long term storage. there was not a spot of rust anywhere on my 15 weapons.

I just started using gun socks myself. It is good to know that they do a good job.

I use them. They are an effective barrier.

I always use them for storage.  They also are a good way to protect your guns when carrying in your range bag and taking out and placing on the range bench.  I lay the sock under the (usually handgun)on the range table to prevent any possible scratches.  They also can be used to do a quick wipe of the weapon.  I've used them for longer-term storage in soft bags  and have never seen any rust on any gun.

Another good thing about them is that you can stuff twice as many guns into your safe and not worry so much about them getting all dinged up from one another.

I've slowly been buying socks for every rifle in my safe for that reason!

I use them on my wood stocked bolt guns, over/under shotguns, and few other nice older guns that don't get shot a lot and I want to preserve. They work great.

Can I store my weapon in a foam case in a gun-sock and expect nothing bad to occur such as would had I dont so without hte gun-sock?
