I have a Bushmaster 20" upper, HBAR barrel profile.  It has the A2 flash hider.  I am looking to remove the A2 hider to install a different one.  Is there a special tool you use for this? What is the proper technique? How do I go about torquing the new one on? Is there a torque spec? It's more or less a beater rifle but I would like to install / reinstall the hider correctly. I've been told that while you can just crank it on there, overtightening has a negative effect on accuracy.

Thanks!

I've put on more than one with a crescent wrench with taped jaws. I used the crush washer. If it takes too much force to time up, I take it back off and smack the washer one square shot with a hammer on the high side to flatten it slightly as it lay on top of my vise jaws.. Crushing it in a vise helps too if it just won't time up.
