I have a question concerning the AR-15 Buttstock cleaning kit. The CLP bottle in mine does not go into the buttstock. It has a white top that will fit in, but the actual bottle is too big. What gives? |
| Thanks. however, the problem that I have is not that I can't get everything to fit but rather that the CLP bottle is too large to fit in trapdoor. In your picture it shows the bottle to be no larger in diameter than the widest part of the cap. The bottle I have is wider than the cap. The cap fits in fine, but the bottle is too large. I guess I will have to find a smaller bottle. |
FWIW, I found some HDPE bottles with a flip top at REI. I think they're made by Nalgene. I bought the larger bottles, but IIRC, there's a smaller bottle that might be the right size. That, or hit the funshows, I almost always see small bottles for sale. |
I understand what your problem is. I posted a pic of what the bottle should look like so you have a comparison. I added the “how to” page to be a nice guy. |
Thank QUIB for this. It sure beats his: "Please refer to TM-XXX-XXX" |

Sorry to resurrect this (search turned this up), but I have a heck of a time squeezing my cleaning kit in the AR stock. Is there a "right way" to do it? QUIB's pics are broken. I have one squeezed in my C7 clone's stock by putting no CLP in the bottle and smooshing it in behind the "sock" with the kit in it. I have two more kits coming for two other fixed stocks that I ordered an hour ago from DSG Arms, and I just got an email they shipped. I need to know how to put them in when they get here. Surely there is a better way than cram it in and squish the bottle behind it.Thanks! |
