Don’t know, I haven’t had the opportunity to look into it any farther. Feel free to take the reigns on this one if you wish, contact BF and ask them.

I’m personally not really concerned about it. Through my experience and my methods of cleaning I’m not experiencing any problems using BF FBC and will stick with it.

If we do eventually find out some brands of FBC are the exact same product as BF, then I will buy which ever is available and which ever is the cheapest.

according to a poster in the other thread that is the same patent # as Outers
so it should good to go on a chrome lined barrel with a gas system right?

First off, I would not be concerned about the chrome. Neither FBC will harm your chrome barrel.

Second, it all depends on how you look at the fact that both have the same patent number.

1- Outers states “Not for use with gas operated weapons.”  so does that mean BF FBC is not safe as well?

2- I was told by BF through an email that BF FBC WAS SAFE for use on the M16/AR15 with it’s gas operated system. So based off what BF told me, does that mean Outers brand FBC is safe too and the warning is false?

These are the questions that need to be cleared up by those that are concerned.

My question for those “in the know” or for those wanting to dig into this more: Does a  product that shares the same patent number as another product, necessarily mean that both products share the same chemical make up?

Well I used it seems to be ok, flushed the gas tube with brake clean
and appears to be good to go.

I have used Outers (or whatever brand it is at Walmart) on an AR with no problems.

Outers FBC was made by Forrest Foam in Finland when it 1st came to market. Not sure if it is still rebottled Forrest Foam. It is good stuff and wors though. I think Wipe Out is a bit better.....does it's job faster and is safe on everything, even wood finishes.
