Ok so I just ordered the quad rail for my bushy M4A3.....anddddd I was stupid enough to NOT read the instrustions and figure it goes on the same way the other one came off......yeah well not even close. needless to say I scratched the heck out of my handuard release....or whatever the correct term is for the ROUND part you push down.... I believe its called the SLIP RING.....Anyway I more or less just took the black off. Is there anyway to dye it or anything that best works to touch it up?? Thanks for the help -Justin- |
Yeah I guess you can't beat the old sharpe for a quick fix.....honeslty did not even consider that...I will look up what you mentioned and see what I can find.... |

Sharpie will look purple in the sun........if you care. I use black BBQ high temp paint. I spray it onto a q-tip and dab it on. Matches pretty good, but will not hold up to solvents when cleaning very well, so it will have to be touched-up. Products like Gunkote work really nicely (there are others but that is what i am used too). |
Yeah good call on the sharpe.....it will look purple...Also thanks for the info...I think I'm going to try that Gunkote.... -J- |

Sharpie does leave that purple hue as stated before. The Birchwood Casey Aluminium Black works great! Hit the delta ring with some acetone to clean and degrease it really well first,, then apply the BC AB with a q-tip. As it works, you will see a bubbling effect from the chemical reaction... this is normal. While it does this, I continue to swab the solution around. Remember... the longer it sits on the alum, the darker the black will be. So if it doesnt look like it covered it very well, just wipe it off and re-apply another dose til it is colored to match the surrounding areas. |

Try Birchwood Casey "Super Black Instant Touch up Pen" It's a FLAT BLACK that touches up nicks and scratches.... Ya gotta be within inches of the surface to see any defects - and for about 6 bucks ya can't go wrong! docgary |
Yeah it works too, but it is a paint and susceptable to being removed by cleaning solvents. Ask me how I know!
