So I was at a sport/gun shop I have never been at before, Al and Bob's in Grand Rapids. Anyways they have one of the largest selection of cleaning products I have ever seen. While I was there I saw three types of Break Free products ive never seen before. One was Break Free bore cleaner if I remember correct, it was in a small glass jar about 2.5" around with a tin top. The fluid inside had a viscosity similar to water and was clear. I would assume you dip the patch in? The other was a Brake Free "bore past" i think, it looked very similar to the JB bore compound, and was advertised as being a mild abrasive. The final product I saw was a Break Free "Collector" that was advertised to be used for long term storage, it was in the same bottle as CLP but a different label. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the above products. They also had a ton of slip2000 products. Along with this crazy bottle of stuff with the Castrol oil logo with hoppe's logo on it, some kind of kind of powder/fouling cleaner developed by both companies. I could have spent a good few hours looking over all they stuff they had there, it was crazy. |

The liquid bore cleaner is basically just a solvent. Probably about the same as most of the solvents, Hoppes, Kleen Bore, whatever. The Collector is pretty much just made to protect your metal from rust. It claims to lube as well, but I'd clean it off and use CLP instead. It's like they've broken their CLP into it's parts and started selling them separately. The bore cleaner is the C part, the LP is the lube and protectant with no cleaner, and the collector is just the P part. |
