What are your cleaning routines for your AR10? I have a 308 military cleaning kit (fits in stock) that contains a screw together rod, chamber brush, barrel brush, patches, etc. I added very small plastic container of BF CLP to it. I also have a universal Otis kit that I use on my 223/5.56 rifles. What are areas to concentrate on while cleaning? What about areas that folks generally overdue it on? What are your thoughts? I'm curious. |
True, for some. Is there a downside to using a pull through kit like Otis (barrel/crown wear)? Some say they never use a brush down the barrel, ever. They just use a good copper solvent (Butch's Bore Shine, Hoppes, etc.) and swab the barrel and then dry it out. I guess I just want to hear from folks what works. I know it's everyone's opinion, but that's what a lot of posts on this entire site are, opinions |
I just use a Bore Snake that I drench in CLP. For both AR-15 and AR-10. Works great. |
I've seen those, but never used one. Are they rough on the inside of the barrel? How do you clean the gunk out of one after use (I assume they're reusable)? I may check one out. |
Not rough at all. It has less bristles than a regular rod brush. You can throw it in the washing machine and re-use it as much as you want. You can use it over and over for a bunch of times before you wash it so I wouldn't worry about it much. |
I'm not sure who "they" are, but I suggest Wipeout! www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=784639 Great stuff! My barrel AR-15 barrel has not had a brush inside of it since I purchased the stuff, and the bore is shiny as hell with no carbon and no copper whatsoever. |
