I have a new Bushmaster AR15 A3 M4, and I was wondering what is recommended for cleaning/maintenance before I take it to the range for the first time? I'm new to rifles of any type. I have a DVD that details breakdown and cleaning, but I'm sure that I don't have to go through that whole process for an initial shooting. Thanks |
+1 You should do a detail strip to check for any obvious problems. Remove any preservative oils from the FCG and bolt/bolt carrier, and re-lube IAW the operators instructions. Run a damp patch or two down the bore, then follow up with a dry patch to ensure the bore is clean and dry before firing. And before I forget.............always perform a function check after re-assembly. |
