What do you use to clean your AR's? What bore solvant, and is their anything I need to stay away from with a chrome lined bbl? Thanks |
| I use CLP to clean and lube. You can use anything even amonia based just dont let the bore soak in it.I used to use hoppes #9 before using the CLP wich is a cleaner, lube and protector.Even the old rifle bore cleaner and LSA can be used..its what used to be used to clean and Lube the M16 before CLP.Mpro 7 is also a great cleaner,if you clean after you shoot when things are warm itll take you 10 minutes to do and as long as its lubed good you can clean easily even a few days after. An AR should take 20 minutes tops to clean ..dont scrape anything or use dental picks or pipe cleaners in the gas tube and youll be fine.More damage is done to rifles from over cleaning or using improper tools than anything else. |

Cleaning is a personal thing, different folks have different beliefs in methods, supplies, chemicals, etc. For light cleaning, I use a .22 cal boresnake with Butch's Bore Shine. Three to five passes, scrub the chamber with a chamber brush, wipe clean, a little CLP on the bolt, done. Heavier cleaning, I still use Butch's Bore Shine, but I break out the bore guides, brushes, patches, and Dewey rod. I'll also disassemble the bolt carrier and clean it. |
