| I just got my new M&P15A today so I took it apart to clean. Only one problem, the take down pin is very tight, very hard to slide out. Is this a common problem with new AR's? Does anyone know of a good tool to use to drive it out? |

+1 what is less expensive to replace? An upper? Or a couple of pins? |
It's common and not a problem. Put that file down. In time it will become easy. A 5.56 round also works to push the pin out. |
If you shave a little off the pin, you've taken a pin that fits the lower but not the upper and reversed it. Now you've got a pit that is sloppy in the lower. If you let time do your filing, your just going to have to deal with the problem for a lot longer while the gun does to itself, what I suggested. I like to speed up time with a file. If you pop out the rear pin and look through the hole with the upper and lower still together, you can see a little material in the upper hole that is causing the problem. You shave a little and check for fit, then shave a little and check for fit. That's what I do anyways. If you're happy putting up with the tight fit, God bless you. If you want to alter a part that isn't the problem, God bless you too. If I have a feed ramp or a trigger or whatever that needs a little work to get the gun working properly, I fix it. I ain't going to wait for time to do it. Who knows how much time I got left? |
