Some of you may remember helping me when I asked for help finding a good dry lube for my son in the sandbox. When Slip 2000 sent him some for him and his platoon, I said here that I would buy some and give a report. Incidentally, my son has received the Slip 2000 package, and his review is "I love it!". As for my review, please keep in mind that I am new to the AR-15 platform, and therefore have nothing to compare the EWL with. I have a Bushy 1:9 16" with the M203 cut on the barrel. Stag lower from Kiser Munitions. When I got the two parts, I completely stripped the upper, and cleaned it with Gun Scrubber, the older version, and Hoppes. I actually ran through two cleanings. As an example, I pulled the extractor and scrapped the bolt under the extractor. The only thing I didn't remove was the ejector and spring. Everything else was cleaned and scraped. This was not only to clean the rifle, but to also remove any trace of prior lubricant. Then I applied the EWL to every part of the Bolt, BC, CH, chamber, upper receiver, and barrel. Two days later, the repeated the application, first wiping down the bolt, etc. Some more residue came off, which seems to show that it was getting into the metal. After the suggested sitting period and wiping the metal dry, the parts felt somewhat slick, but dry. Nothing seemed to come off on my fingers. At the range, I went through 160 rounds of Guatamalan 55 gr surplus. This was from battlepacks that AimSurplus sold last year, not the present ones they are selling. This consisted of 55 rounds of slow fire, as I zeroed in the BUIS, and then the EOTech. The other 105 rounds were fast (1 every 2-3 seconds), to rapid fire. There were no problems at all with the rifle. I finished up about 6:00 PM on Saturday, packed up and drove home. At about 8:00 PM, I pulled the BCG, and wiped the outside only with a dry rag. All the residue came off easily, even around the gas ejection ports. By easily, I mean no extra hard pressure or multiple scrubbing, except the gas port area, which I ran the rag over three times. After the wipedown, my thumb came away clean from going over the bolt. Then I put the BCG back to let everything sit for another 24 hours. The advertising said that multiple usage of the EWL should help make cleaning faster and easier, so at about 8:00 PM Sunday, I stripped everything down, and proceded to wipe down every part. No solvents, just dry rags and Q-Tips. The bottom line is that it wiped clean. As an example, the firing pin tube in the center of the bolt came out black as expected. But after the last Q-Tip came out clean, an EWL treated Q-Tip came out barely grey. After six dry patches through the barrel, the EWL patch came through barely grey. Basically, I would have to say the EWL lived up to it's billing. Having cleaned a normally lubed rifle, (a friend's 20" HBAR), this cleaning was easier. While 160 rounds is not a major test of a lube, I feel that it did well, and still was easy in movement when I started to clean 24 hours later. Keeping in mind that I have nothing to compare to from prior use, I would say that this product is very good, and lives up to it's promises. (I refuse to rate anything excellent without haveing something to compare to. Just me.) I will be doing some plinking on Christmas, weather permitting, where I will be running through a lot more rounds, probably below freezing, which should be a good test. My conclusion is that I will keep using it, and will recommend it, especially on the aspect of helping to clean a weapon. It also seems like an excellent choice for my Glock, which really hates excess lube. Hawk |

You would have to ask! To tell the truth, I didn't even notice a smell. Not overwhelming, what ever it is. I'll check at lunch and try to edit this when I get back. Also, this is completely non-toxic. Hawk Okay, lunch is over, and I took the bottle out, squezed a drop on a Q-Tip. Almost no smell whatsoever. Maybe just a slight musty smell, but I'm not sure I'd swear to that under oath. Hawk |
