OK, I've spent a TON of money on cleaning rods and brushes and am sick of nothing working.

I picked up a Kleen Bore one-piece brass rod at the local gun shop, then ordered a chamber brush directly from Kleen Bore. Got it today, only to find that the thread does not match the rod.

WTF? How can a company sell brushes and rods that have different threads? It makes no sense to me.

So, my question is, I want a set of one-piece rods (bore and chamber) with the appropriate bushes/jags/loops that will fit the rods. Who can supply me with them?

Thanks.

I believe Bushmaster sells an adapter for using military brushes on civi rods. Yes, civi and mil-spec use different thread pitches.

ETA:

Machined brass adaptor threaded to accept military type cleaning brushes - allowing them to be used with commercial cleaning rods.

$ 3.25

Thanks for the info, QUIB, but I'm looking for a supplier/manufacturer that sells rods/bushes that are totally interchangable.

I started out buying a one-piece Outers rod at Wally World, but discovered that it had a knarled aluminum adapter to attach brushes. No way in hell was I gonna run that thing down my barrel.

Scratch five bucks.

Picked up a one-piece brass rod from Kleen Bore. It worked great, but I found out today that the Chamber brush  I ordered (from Kleen Bore) does not fit on the rod. WTF?

So, I guess my point really is, I'll live with and use my Kleen Bore rod to clean the bore. Who makes a Chamber rod/brush that I should buy?

On a side note, it pisses me off that a company (such as Kleen Bore) will produce a rod that has a different thread than the thread on attachments they offer. Paying 10 bucks for a Chamber brush (including shipping) only to find that it doesn't fit their own damn rod is wrong (I'll be on the phone with them tomorrow).

Thanks.

Been there with the cheap Outers aluminum rods, I must have went through three sets till I wised up and bought the Kleen Bore one piece steel rod. One modification I did to the Outers adapters was chucked them in my cordless drill and removed the knurling.

I have yet to find a chamber brush that utilizes the standard civilian TPI. You could buy a GI cleaning rod set and use the t-handled section for cleaning the chamber, or do like I did below:

Here I forced my GI chamber brush into a section of Outers aluminum cleaning rod, then secured that into an old x-acto knife handle I had laying around.

I believe that Outers uses their own, non standard, thread pitch.  I know they do on their shotgun rods.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I finally solved the problem this afternoon...

Several stops at the various gun stores didn't resolve my problem. I finally went to a military surplus store and bought an M16 cleaning rod for two bucks. The Kleen Bore chamber brush fit perfectly.

The one-piece Kleen Bore rod will take care of the barrel and the M16 rod will take care of the chamber.

Jeeze...I should have done this days ago instead of dicking around looking for a complete cleaning system.

Midway offers nylon brushes from Iosso with 8-32 threads.  I got a 3-brush kit with a chamber brush, bolt carrier brush (stepped, for the front part of the carrier, where the bolt fits) and upper receiver brush.
