Hi,

Right now i'm using hoppe's No.9 power solvent to clean the gas tube, bolt, and barrel.  Then I put some rem oil on the parts. No oil in the barrel though.  Is there anything better I should be using?

Hoppe's is a good cleaner, but will smell up the place in a hurry.  For a dedicated carbon cleaner, look for Hoppe's Elite, MPro7, or Mil comm MC25.  These are water based cleaners and have almost no smell.  I have also heard good things about Carbon Killer from SLIP 2000, but I have never used it personally.

The #9 that you have should be fine for copper removal when necessary.

I would use the Rem Oil for locks, hinges, etc. around the house.  Look into FP10, Corrosion X Aviation, or Mil comm products.  I always wet patch my bore to ensure corrosion protection/easier cleaning.  You don't want it dripping, just a light, even coat.
