I'm relatively new to AR15s so this may be a stupid question but what the hell.  I've read about how to remove the two piece handguards from the standard AR15 but what about the one piece handguards on the varmint guns. The reason I'm asking is because I just purchased a Rock River varmint model and realized if I ever wanted to remove it for cleaning I would not have a clue how to get it done....

EOP or A4? Guess that doesn't matter...

It's a free-float style barrel. hmmmm

Very valid question... I have no experience with those and I can't find any manuals on the RRA site.

For what it's worth A4....but like you say I guess it doesn't matter.  I'm thinking they aren't made to be removed by the average guy.

Most free float varmit type handguards are screwed onto the barrel nut or incorporate a barrel nut in the end. Either way, use a strap wrench near the receiver, properly supporting the receiver in action blocks, and unscrew it but only after removing the gas tube because it too secures the barrel nut.

Thanks for the help Keith.  It doesn't sound like something I would attempt on my own at this point.
