Has anybody had a bad experience with the new 'foaming' bore cleaners mucking up their gas tube? I have to admit I love the stuff, but I've worried that its residue might block the gas port or the gas tube.

I really like the idea of cleaning the bore with the minimum of mechanical scrubbing-it just seems like it's better all around, plus, of course, much easier.

Thanks,

Larry

foaming bore cleaners?

whats next?, scrubbing bubbles?

go with a cleaning rod, you do more damage to the gun firing it than with a coated rod anyways...

I have used the Outer's stuff which is made by Mil-Foam(Forrest Foam) and sold under the Outer's name and is sold at Wal-Mart. I have also used Wipe Out which is the best of the foam cleaners. Thy do work but you need to let them sit for at least an hour and a little brush scrubbing does help.

They are worth it and do a good job but not as good as a combo of Mpro7 or MC-25 for carbon fouling followed up by a copper/lead solvent like Sweets, Tetra, Butches Bore Shine.

EDIT TO ADD:

Don't worry about it cloging your gas tube, it won't!

+1

I put it in the barrel before leaving the range...get home and run a boresnake through...good as new.

Interesting - how does it not get into the gas tube? It turns semi solid right? I've heard that maybe one should give the gas tube a blast with compressed air once you're done to clear it - any truth in this? Thanks! Looks like i'll be picking up some...

It gets in the gas tube but it is like shaving cream and slowly evaporates leaving behind a residue that provides some rust protection. I have used it many times and never have a problem with the gas tube.

The gas tube will work itself out during operation.. No worries.

I use this all the time, no gas tube problems. Just use as directed. I use the break-free version, but I understand it's all the same.
