has any one ever heard of useing dawn dish soap to clean their AR's.  i was talking to a guy who said he uses dish soap to clean his AR.  he said he breaks it down and sticks the parts into a super hot tub of dish soap and leaves it for 30 min.  said that he then scrubs it with a brush and then lubricates it and its good to go.  this is how i clean my departmental issued glock and it works fine but never thought of doing it on an AR.  just want to know if the guy is crazy or not.

I use to own a Colt SP-1 that on a few occasions got really muddy.  I just filled the tub with hot water and Dawn and she cleaned right up.

Just make sure you get all the water out.  One good way is to use compressed air to blow out the gas tube etc... and lube everything after it's dry.

After a few weeks in the field on Ft. Hood, I would take my M-16 into the shower with me.  Cleaned her up pretty well and loosened up all the carbon fouling from both live fire and blanks.  Hated shooting blanks!  Nothing but noise and mess!

You should have your Master Gunner Sgt contact Slip 2000. They will send him samples of the Carbon Cutter that is being sent to Iraq for cleaning. Reports back are saying that Carbon Cutter has cut their cleaning time by 75% on the M16, M4, M60, 240's and the 249 SAW. Give them a call or e-mail and someone will take care of you. Slip 2000 has been sending lots of samples over to guys that have seen it or used it and their Slip 2000 CLP.
