Do you guys use a vise block when working on lowers?

If not, how do you hold the lower to change the stock?

Ya could always use an old junk magazine, (remove the guts and follower, insert a wooden block) insert the mag, place mag in vise, tighten to hold, careful not to crush it too badly. Or there's a solid plastic mag like device sold by Bushmaster and others that accomplishes the same thing.

$30 from Bushmaster:

I just use an old mag even with the guts in it, no big deal.  It works great........but don't torque anything using it.

Yup Mike,  that's the block I am considering, just wondering if there is a less expensive alternative...

Jimmy, I was wondering if an old mag would work -- even considered putting a block inside the mag, as Mike suggested.

Will probably get the vise block -- looks like I can get a real tele stock now have

With the ban gone I don't think beat-to-hell mags are going to be worth much anymore but it sounds like you guys have figured out a use for them.
