Has anyone used felt pellets instead of patches?  VFG makes them with brass fibers.  Are they fad or fancy???

Any comments appreciated

they're pretty popular with pellet gun users.  Although I haven't seen them myself for firearms.

I have tried them and they are okay.  They do not fit as tight as a patch and jag.  They are okay for a light wiping of the barrel.  I use them sometimes but they are not as cheap or work as good as patches.

Edited to add: I have not seen them with the brass in them.

They do not work for cleaning or any thing else I can thing of.  Use fishing line and patches to clean your barrel.

I have used the non-brass infused version for some time now to clean a .223 M70 Winchester. I  find that they work great for an initial wetting of the bore with solvent prior to cleaning, during light cleaning, and to apply oil for storage.  They do not fit as tightly as you can get patches to - so heavy cleaning is best left for a wrap type patch as Chazz stated above.  The same pellets fit more tightly in a .22 bbl and are the nuts for cleaning rimfire. I find them to be very convenient to carry in my range bag. I have some with the brass comming and will post my 2C when they arrive.  BTW, they utilize a special tip or jag which is brass so you need to be careful with the use of copper solvents on these, I clean the jag after each use of a Cu cleaner.
