| I just bought a Next Intent Tactical adjustable gas block for an SBR build. Ive built a few ARs but never with an adjustable gas block. I haven't installed it yet, but I put on the gas tube and blew compressed air through both ends with the screw completely closed. From both ends I could feel what felt like completely unimpeded air coming through. Is this normal? I would have guessed that a completely closed gas block would stop all of the air. Something about it does not seem right, but then again I have never used them before. |

Something is definitely not right if you're getting air through the gas tube. There are two screws. One adjusts the gas and one locks the gas screw in place to keep your setting. Did you adjust both screws? Yes, I closed the main gas screw and locked it in. |

The gas adjustment set screw should be pointed tipped, with the bottom of the interceting channel for it counter angle bore to accept the point of the tip to close the actual gas passage off. So on that note, loosen the jam screw to allow you to remove the gas adjustment screw, then check the tip of the screw and the bottom of the channel. Again, tip should be pointed, and the bottom of the channel for the tip clean so the tip of the screw can recess all the way down into the channel to block off the actual gas passage. Hence either there is crap in the bottom of the receiver channel for the screw that is not allowing to full seat tight against the matching channel, or if there was crap in the channel and you tried to over tighten the adjustment screw against it, you could have snapped off the sharp tip. Basic design of an adjustable gas block and you can see how the tip of the adjustment screw restricts the actual gas passage of the barrel to gas tube as the adjustment screw is threaded in and out against the channel from the barrel gas port to the gas key (#12 to #29). https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/US20130098235A1/US20130098235A1-20130425-D00005.png The channel looks clear. Here is a pic of the screws. They are both tightened all of the way. It might be a flawed unit, but I wont really know until until I fire it. I should have just paid $30 more and got the SLR block. https://imgur.com/a/lq7Bf |

https://i.imgur.com/SmpeVRT.jpg The gas adjuster bolt looks to be lacking, but take a look in the end of block channel for that bolt to see what the end of the channel looks like as well. Hence is the front channel more point tapered for a front angle tip bolt, or is the end of channel just a flat edge like the adjustment bolt tip instead. Its hard to see all the way down the channel, but I'll see if I can make it out. I did find an article that says gas did escape through this guys threads. http://68forums.com/forums/showthread.php?60964-0-59oz-Adjustable-Gas-Block I'm not sure how this would be acceptable, but then again I will have to test fire it to be sure. For know I just emailed the manufacturer to get some feedback on this design ans get ahead of any issues that may arise. |
