I have a 14 inch handguard on my 300BO that is not centered on the barrel at the muzzle.  There is about 1/16" difference between right and left which, of course, plays hell with the rear sight at 100 yards.  It's from Midway and uses a steel barrel nut and 2 bolt mounting.  I don't see any gaps and the alignment tabs look even.  The gun came with a 10" tube and the sights worked fine with it.  Any thoughts??

Really need to know which brand of tube, since most have a way of adjusting the tube to get it centered with the center line of the upper receiver.

Also, since it does sound like you swapped float tubes, are you sure that you did not bend the upper receiver barrel socket by over torquing it during the swap.
If push comes to shove, there is a way to straighten the upper receiver barrel socket, so long as you did not crack the socket/threads to begin with.

The tube is an AR Stoner 13.5 inch.  I have to tools to work on AR's and followed the instructions.  After your post I checked the upper and also the tube for out of square and straightness.  I didn't find anything out of line.  I didn't check the Stoner steel barrel nut runout or concentricy because I didn't wan t to disassemble the whole gun.
