I bought one of the Fallout triggers (I believe it is assumed they were made for black rain). I tried to install it in my SPR inspired rifle and I couldn't get the trigger pin to line up. The hammer pin went in but once it was installed it would take quite a bit of force to engage the safety.

The rifle in question is an Aero Precision lower which had a mil-spec trigger in it. It felt like the Fallout trigger wasn't able to move forward in the trigger housing enough if that makes sense.

As a test I was able to swap the Fallout trigger into a different Aero Precision lower and it went in fine. Does this sound simply like a tolerance stacking issue?

The fall out trigger uses two set screws to hold the trigger pack tight to the receiver/pins.  So before you install/remove the pack, you have to make sure that the set screws are backed upwards, then one the pack is installed, the the two set screws are tighten up to secure the pack tightly in the receiver against the pins.

So on that note, if you have not backed the set screws off, could be the problem at hand.

Short of that, then check the pack against the side of the receiver to confirm that the receiver pin channels are correctly spaced, and then check the pack inside the receiver to make sure that it has the room needed for the pack to be installed as well.
