I swapped out the original trigger spring for a reduced trigger spring, however, the pull is the exact same.
the stock spring had a pull of 6.5 lbs and the replacement spring showed the same. I replace the stock spring with the JP Enterprises reduced power Trigger Spring, but at the same time I swapped out the hammer spring for a Wolff XTRA-POWER HAMMER SPRING. Could this be why I see no change in the trigger pull? I did this on 2 lowers, one for my 7.62 and one for my 5.45 so I can reduce the number of light primer strikes. James |

Leave the standard trigger spring in play. Reducing the tension on is will just cause trigger reset problems as the FCG begins to foul up.
On the hammer spring, extra tension is over kill, and if you are having a problem igniting primers, then your FP protrusion is short (or the bolt not fully locking up). The correct spec for FP protrusion is .028 to .032, and if you need to adjust the FP protrusion, that is done by removing any ridge burs from the back of the boat tail first, then chucking up the FP ass end first into a drill, and spin filing the stop collar back the needed amount to get the ideal protrusion. As for if you speed'd the hammer by removing mass, then you can bump the FP up to around .036 to compensate for the lose of mass of the hammer weight. As for reducing trigger pull weight, cleaning up (polishing) the pins and FCG channels goes a long way. From there, once you sure that the FP protrusion is correct to get a reliable primer ignition, you can tweak the stock hammer spring at the coils to reduce the trigger pull weight even more. |
