i have a dissipator upper .. rifle gas ..that will only work with xm193 lake city.
i bought a bolt carrier from brownells.. and a bolt from midway. new gas rings and new carbine spring.. used my old standard carbine buffer. the barrel is from DPMS .. the BCG wa s pretty stiff. i drowned it in CLP.. it works fine with lake city xm193 .. but will not run on anything else. wondering if its just due to the BCG ... |

It should loosen up after you put more rounds down range. Keep shooting. yea .. I'll keep shooting it. don't know why i keep messing with this old dissy upper.. used to be heavy till i sent her off to ADCO putt her on a diet. balance is great now.. am happy with the accuracy using xm193s... yes..i suspected it was too tight/stiff .. but what else could you do but shoot it more ? thanks for the reply. |

If your Dissy set up is a rifle length gas system, and it runs on XM193 but not other types of ammo, then you may have a timing issue (specifically I am thinking dwell time). The XM193 that it runs on is 5.56, so are the other types of ammo that you are trying that it won't run on .223 or something like Wolf/Tula?

You could drive the wife crazy while watching TV by manually working the action. Maybe even just working the bolt in the carrier over and over again. Out of the rifle. well shucks folks... i had a brain storm.. i have a nickel boron BCG .. ordered .. for my A2 rifle..( another build) I'm thinkingof putting the stiff BCG ..in my carbean .. an old bushy that shoots anything i feed it. and try out this new fangled BCG in the dissipator.. supposedly these new nickel boron BCGs are slicker than butter on a hot biscuit... if ? its what they say... i should be good togo. |
