I have a front sight tower question, one that i have not been able to find any answers on.
Let me start by stating that for repetitive sight purposes, nose to handle, then inch back a tad, sighting the ears to touch on the ring, so I know this is repeatable, same position, same view same POA.. (If that is a proper way to do that or not please lend me some pointers that will create a repeatable, Iron sight pattern repeatable every-time.)
that being said I have the following issues

I have an F marked front site tower. On a RockRiver flat top AR. When sighting it in to a 50-200 battle zero, i am running into the following problem.
1. The sight post is extended very high, almost to and over the ears of the front site tower. With the tower so high, it is making the aimpoint/poa of the zero almost at the T created with the rear sight ring, thereby blurring or obscuring the sight picture... This makes acquiring a target a blurry PIA, and in practical shoots nearly Impossible on the move.
On a second rifle, also flattop though Carbine (Rifle having issue is a mid-length), though different maker, I do not have the same issue, front sight post does not extend above tower ears, and sight picture is clear... acquiring target and aiming is perfect creating 1.0 Moa groups at 50. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. I am very close to scrapping the RR Upper and starting over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as we all know ammunition is at a premium, and I would rather not be wasting rounds sorting this out, as have already burned through enough... figured I would come to the experts for advice.

You might want to try a taller front sight post.I think Bushmaster makes a front sight post that is .040
taller than the standard.
ETA: DPMS also makes one found here.

Your front sight post is probably not your issue.  Your method of sight alignment is.

The "ears" on the front sight base are not intended to be used for aiming.  They are there only for the protection of the front sight.  They are not precision forged pieces and vary from piece to piece.  The height and width of each piece can vary greatly.  If your front sight post is almost level with the top of the ears and you are sighting correctly, your FSB must be extremely out of spec.  So far that it should be visibly obvious.

Make sure your rear sight is on the small aperture.  Forget nose to charging handle.  That is an easy way to teach very large groups of young men to get a somewhat repeatable sight picture.  Open your stock up to the point that you're eyeball is 4-6 inches to the rear of the sight aperture.  Center the top of the front sight post on your aiming point at 50 yards.  Your brain will pretty much naturally center the front sight post.  Just make sure that it is exactly centered.  This is much easier to do the further back you get from the rear sight.  It's much easier to center the front sight in a small circle than a large.  As you move back from the rear sight you will notice that the rear aperture seems to get smaller, making it easier to center the front sight.

So my suggestion would be to put your front sight back down to mechanical zero, and forget the "ears" when you sight it in again.  See if this changes anything.

Hope it helps.

You left out an important part of the picture, what rear sight are you using?
