Can someone please take a look at my picture and let me know if I need to make the snap ring flush w/ the delta ring?

Do I need to remove the barrel to fix this?

The barrel doesn't need to be removed. Take a thin punch and tap it into place. Tape a thin piece of of stiff cardboard (like from an old shoebox) near the end of the ejection port door pin area to protect the finish, then angle the punch alongside the receiver and tap the rear of the snap ring a few times. Also, you may need to pad the area on the receiver near where you will be striking the punch. You may have to do this on both sides of the receiver, alternating back and forth until it is perfectly even.

ETA: Remove the handguards before you do this.

Thanks Mike.  I'll try it over the weekend.

Just curious.  Can I leave it the way it is or will it cause a problem?

That snap ring is supposed to be in the groove on the barrel nut which in turn puts the weld spring under tension which holds your handguards in place.  Do not leave it this way or it could come completely out and you would lose tension on the weld spring and forend and the forend could conceivably fall off.  It is a simple matter of tapping the part of the snap ring that is out of the groove until it is back in the groove.  When it gets lined up with the groove it will snap smartly back into the groove.  It should not take you more than a minute to fix it.
