Pull the mag apart and clean it
Also, since the counter is applying tension to the follower, the main mag spring need to be in a good working tension state. About the only other thing that comes to mind is that the follow is moving forward in the mag body, and the bolt catch tab is missing the back of the follower to raise the catch. To test this, shotgun the upper open, drop in an empty mag, and just push the mag follower forward in the body and see if the bolt catch tab slips off the back of the follower ledge. If it does, and you are hell bent of using the mag, then time to mod a 9mm bolt catch. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_66/479984_Problem_bolt_catch__help_____Fixed_01_29_2010________.html |

this has only started happening to me since last time i went to the range.. nothing has changed on the gun itself so i think the magazine mustve gotten damaged somehow.
im not at home at the moment and i cant check anything out right now, but im pretty sure that when i put that particular mag in the firearm while the bolt was open the rearmost part of the follower got pushed downwards by the bolt catch.. Didnt have time to properly check it out but other mags were working fine. |

Easy check is to just shotgun the upper open, then insert the empty mag into the mag well.
If you have a spring or counter problem, then the empty mag follower is not going to push the bolt hold open latch all the way up. Also don't forget to give the follower a push forward in the mag body to make sure that it can't ride forward enough in the mag body that the bolt hold open tab slips off the back of the follower. |
