| We all know that anything to do with ARs right now is nuts. I picked up a Sun Devil upper/lower set got it in and proceeded to put it together. Trigger pins were good, take down pins were good. Go to put the bolt catch roll pin and it went all the way in without any help. Used a magnetic screw driver and it came right out. Pull another brand new roll pin from a package and same issue. Grabbed a spare roll pin from a trigger guard TOO BIG. So I try calling SD MFG and there is no answer. Hasn't been for sometime. No return e-mails either. Normal bolt catch roll pin is 3/32" and trigger guard roll pin is 1/8" (checked with micrometer). Don't know what to do with it now. Thoughts? Do I drill out the hole to 1/8" and use a trigger roll pin or try to find a 7/64" roll pin (not easy to come by). I have built over 50 AR and this was my first SD and probably my last. Once the pin is in and tight there is no room to drive it back out from the back side. |

I had a lower with that problem as well. I took a wood chisel and put it on the crack on the side of the roll pin, and hit with a hammer a few times and got it expanded a bit. Then, the bolt catch itself needed it's hole enlarged a bit for the new large sized pin. It was too hard to drill well, so I reamed it a bit with a diamond reamer on my Dremel tool. Works fine now.
On the trigger guard I had the same issue. I got a polymer Magpul unit, and bought the screw adapter kit for it. It fixed the problem nicely! |
