I had an odd malfunction at the range Saturday.  I fired a round, the brass ejected clean, bolt strips and fed the next round clean, but the trigger mechanism acted as if the bolt was locked back. I couldn't squeeze the trigger, nor adjust the safety from fire to safe.

I opened the gun up and fiddled with the hammer it finally locked into what I assume was the firing position, closed up the gun and fired again. Worked fine for the next 15 rounds or so and I went on to other things.

Any idea? Is this an indicator that the trigger is pretty much on its last legs?

The gun has operated without a hitch through many 2 gun and 3 gun matches, a week long course, a weekend course, and is a factory trigger.

Blown primer is stuck underneath the trigger.

That would be the best case. I do have my brass, but haven't examined any for missing primers.

I would suspect blown primer.

Could have a disconnector problem so that the hammer is following the bolt down intermittently.

Parts wear out especially springs.
OP: if you are having to assume what position the hammer was in that does not give the rest of us much to work with.

The first thing to check.  Possible debris in the lower.

Disconnectors wear faster than any other part of the FCG.
