Good Morning,
A buddy of mine just purchased a RRA LAR-15 Elite Operator2. We went to the range recently to sight it in and ran into a mag seating issue. He first attempted to use a regular grey aluminum mag, would not seat. I took the rifle and mag and gave it a smack and pull and the mag came right out. No click or anything. We then tried a PMAG, same thing, no seating, no click, fell right out.

It wasn't until I pulled the bolt back and locked it open that a mag would actually seat and stay. For the rest of the day we would only get a mag to stay when the bolt was locked to the rear.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Do empty mags seat properly?

Sure the mags only had 30rds, not 31?

If the rifle and mags are right they should work being loaded to their capacity.  This downloading is nonsense.

Check the mag catch.
Check the mag catch adjustment.
Call RRA.

I agree. They call them "30 round mags" for a reason.

I'm having the same problem with a new build. Only 20 rounds in the 30 round mag. Locks in fine with the bolt back, but you have to give the mag a really hard smack to lock it in with the bolt closed. I'm thinking stiff spring in the new mags?

Y'all are being pansys, smack it good,  those rounds will compress enough.

If the mag loads find with the bolt open and the rest of the rounds fire fine then your just not smackin the mag enough.

Concur also, drive it home,a few times hard and the catch on the weapon will seat into the magazine cut,use the "man hands"!
