This is my frist ar so be gentle,
this is a carbine length palmetto state upper with m4 feed ramps the bcg is fail zero nickel borron m-16 full auto the lower is an areo precision with a cmmg parts kit it is an h buffer went to range and using a 20 round pmag attempted to fire the weapon the spent round failed to extract or eject and fouled the next round denting the brass. this was pmc 5.56 i only had one mag with me so i bought a 30 round pmag and a box of american eagle in .233 same result. i thought for sure it was not extracting , but tonight i used a duumy round and slowly cycled it and that works. NOW WHAT |

NOW WHAT Hi, and welcome to the forum. When you say "failed to extract", can you describe it in more detail? Did the BCG cycle but fail to extract the round, releasing it? Did it extract the round partially? Were there unusual marks left on the brass? Were the spent rounds stuck in the chamber? |
|
I did not notice any unusual marks on spent casing , but I did not really look closely
All the following rounds dented . The spent round is not in the chamber but not ejected It just is fouling the following round I will try and post picture on weekend Thank you for taking time to reply to me |

Hand cycling a dummy round isn't a good test for failure to extract because the round never undergoes the expansion from heat and pressure a real round will.
Where was the fired brass/casing when this occurred - in the chamber, partially in the chamber, sticking out of the ejection port, still in the receiver but out of the chamber? |

It appears that the bolt is dropping the round after pulling it from the chamber. Check the tension and free movement of the ejector, and the extractor as well. I would disassemble the bolt completely and clean with CLP, then reassemble. You may have to upgrade the extractor spring or use an o ring. Manually cycle some rounds and see if they eject correctly. ETA: Also check to ensure that your BCG is able to move completely to the rear and clear the ejection port. |

Thank you the bcg does clear the port , this is a nickel boron bcg brand new and and super slick and clean.
the guy who put the lower together suggest a bravo company extractor spring so i ordered it, although for the life of me i cant understand why i would have to on a brand new 250 bcg |

ETA: What type of ammo were you using? |

Borrowed a bcg , rifle ran perfect . the gunsmith at the range i was at looked at the fail zero (worked zero times for me ) bcg for me and noticed the gas key was canted.

There have bee a few cases of these Fail Zero bcg not living up to their name. I would look at a standard bcg from reputable sources, that or plain chrome for something easy to clean and a little slicker. Check the site store for the ARFCOM bcg with some ion finish. That said I love my JP LMOS system, they do some quench process that leave the bcg super slick - originally thought it came with some special oil on it. |
