MP15 Feed issue... Hello to everyone.... I purchased an MP15 sport about a month ago now and have had a feeding issue with the PMag. The weapon will feed the round into the chamber but as it does it bends the tip of the round at the bottom of the neck. This causes it to hang up in the chamber. The round won't fire and has to be ejected. I have tried several different brands of ammo in 5.56 and .223 but have the same issue. I did borrow a couple of different mags from someone at the range yesterday and did not have any issues. Any suggestions on a cause? I was thinking feed ramps until the other brand mags functioned. I fired 300 rounds with the PMags and had a 10% malfunction rate. |

If other mags worked without issues, I would assume you have narrowed it down and found your issue. Any company mass producing anything, is bound to spit out a lemon once and a while.
Were the mags you used with good results Pmags? If you purchased your rifle from a shop, I would call them up and see if they will swap the mag out for you. ...and welcome to the board!

Thanks for the info... Much appreciated. The magazines I borrowed were cheap gun show mags. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on alternate mags to try out. Pmags are typically very reliable, and honestly about the only mags I run these days. I would probably just see about swapping it out with your dealer as I said above. If you'd rather not stick with Magpul, just stick with GI surplus mags. Its a good possibility, thats what those "cheap gun show" mags were. You could probably ask a dozen people for their suggested magazine, and probably get about that many different answers... Personally, these are the mags I stock piled before I started buying P and E mags. |

A rifle relies on the feeding device, in this case the magazine. The feed issue that you have is possibly being caused by the body of the magazine, feed lips, follower, spring, how the magazine fits in the lower receiver, how the upper & lower receivers fit each other, feed ramps, or combination of any of them. If the Pmag that you have is not working, and other magazines work, then get some new magazines. There are a lot of good magazines that are available so try some different ones like Center Industries, NHMTG, Okay, D&H, TangoDown ARC, Pmags, Lancer, etc. Find some magazines that work, use quality domestic made ammunition, and lubricate the bolt carrier assembly.

| Update on my feed issue... I contacted Magpul and as expected they were great! They sent me out ne mags to try but unforunately I still had the same issue to a lesser degree but still not feeding. I also used a lancer mag and it did the same thing. I will be sending it back to S&W to have it looked at. I will update as soon as I get it back. |

What lube are you using? How wet is your BCG? Have you worn the rifle in? Any metal shavings? I have a S&W that was a bear out of the box, If it's doing it with nearly all the mags you are trying then we obviously have another issue. My smith likes to be run wet.
