I have a 16" Middy Spikes, Spikes Lower with Heavy Buffer and what I believe is the DPMS lower parts kits and DPMS stock kit (bought from Brownells)

Took the rifle to camp and was running Federal XM193 through it.  Ran about 400 rounds without a hitch.  Then a buddy shot a mag out of it and it started jamming like crazy.  Pulled it apart and used Breakfree CLP on the bolt and lubed everything up good as it was a little dry.  Kept doing it after I lubed it up intermittently.  Tried XM193 and some PMC bronze.  Same thing.  I have to 20 rounds P mags and a friends metal mag.  Same deal.  The rounds are getting stuck in the M4 cuts its seems like.  I took the mag release button and tightened it one more turn to try and get a better grip on the mag but the same thing.  Just looking for some info from you guys before I send it back to Spikes.

Sometimes burrs on the barrel extension can cause these sorts of issues. I bet the rounds you hand cycle have little smiley faces cut into them.

I think that sometimes the burrs are there but don't present themselves where they cause issues until after some use. Either when oil dries up and dirt forms or perhaps with use the bolt moves them where they start grabbing rounds.

You can use a small pick and feel for burrs. You can use a small file to fix them.

I have seen this enough with a variety of brands that I don't think it is a QC issue so much as something that happens with a mass produced product or even something that is just inherent in the design. . It is one of those little issues that only individual attention to each piece could really catch it.

Spike's would be more than happy to fix her up but you can likely just buff it up yourself.

That is what I am thinkiing as well.  I didnt want to have the rifle tied up for 3 weeks if it was something that I could fix myself.  I am going to look at the feed rams and possibly polish up the ends of them.  I cleaned it really well but this weekend I will put it through its paces once more before i do anything.

Don't get me wrong I like P-Mags, but I use GI mags when the P-Mags act up because GI mags are tunable.
