Hey guys,
I ordered a b5 Sopmod stock from a member on the equipment exchange but am having trouble with it. I cannot get it to slide at all unless I put immense pressure on it. I know they are supposed to be tight but this is not functional. It also appears to be an older version since there is no b5 logo on it and there is no checkering on the release lever. It does have MFR 58VQ8 stamped on it so it is a b5 I think. I'm running a Bushmaster with a mil spec 6 position buffer tube. I can get past it being an older model but if I can't get it to work then I want to return it. Is there anything I should try on my rifle that might get it to function? Are early b5 models known to be out of spec? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Thanks for the quick response! I don't want to get stuck with it if sanding doesn't work out so I'm going to return it. Thanks again.

IIRC they were supplied the wrong specs for the first run and they all came out too tight. New ones are fine. I think the old ones were supposed to be destroyed but some of them weren't. I would probably sand the inside of the stock until it slides on ok. |

Quoted: Quoted: FWIW, are you sure the Bushmaster has a mil-spec tube? I thought most Bushmasters shipped with commercial tubes. I had an ace arfx stock on there before so I ordered a milspec tube to go along with the sopmod. Makes sense. I would try and get my money back and buy one from AIMsurplus.com. $99 shipped seems like a pretty good deal for a new one. |

You will also find that some mil-spec diameter receiver extensions (buffer tubes) may be slightly oversized by .001", causing a tighter fit.
