I am assembling a lower receiver and using a Daniel Defense LPK. Everything went together well except the buffer pin has no travel. Even without a spring in the hole, the pin sits slightly proud. The buffer tube cannot slide over the edge of the pin, let alone allow for assembly of the buffer/buffer spring.

The buffer pin overall length measures 0.647" and the larger diameter of the pin measures 0.502" in length. Is the pin out of spec or the receiver? (I can't get an accurate measurement on the depth of the hole in the receiver.)

I can't call the manufacturer until Monday and was hoping you guys might have some input.

Odd the standard pin is about 1/4" in dia.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that - the length of the larger diameter section measure .502", not the diameter.

When all else fails, take a look at the receiver drawings.

So looking at section A-A (bottom left hand side of the drawing), buffer retaining pin channel in the receiver should be .712 deep.

Thanks for the link, I will borrow a depth gauge from work and get a good measurement on the hole depth.

What lower is this?

I fixed the problem.  When measuring the depth of the hole I discovered the bottom wasn't "solid."  There was some sort of white, hard putty-like material in the bottom of the hole.  I have no idea what it is or why it was there (the upper is brand new), but I scraped it out and cleaned it.  Everything fits beautifully now.

FWIW, it is a Spikes Tactical lower.
