Hello All,

Been around for awhile, but never posted anything, just gathering info.  Anyway, decided to build an AR pistol.  The upper is an YM 7.5" pistol upper.  Went to the range yesterday to test it and ran into a problem: when I squeeze the trigger, it fires off 2 (two) rounds in quick secession.  I am at a loss as to what the problem could be.

Any input on how to fix this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you,

It does this everytime or just occasionally?

I have a 10/22 that throws doubles here and there, but it's never consistent and certainly not predicatable.

Good point!  Forgot to mention it is intermittent and unpredictable.

And that the spring is installed correctly, large coil side into trigger body.

Just double checked the dis-connector spring and it was in end up.  Replaced it big end down, but would that really make a difference?  Still the same spring rate if it is in big end up, or that mistaken?

Thank you all for the help!

Yes, with the spring in upside down your interfering with the disconnectors function.

I know the answer has been given.  But to piggy back here its a totally different spring rate upside down.  It only coils maybe 1/4 the distance it should when in correctly hence less force.  As the fat end will stick to the top of the trigger opening.  Be very very thankful someone didn't have their nose up your butt about it doubling at the range.  There was and true story a guy who went to jail here in Texas because his AR doubled once and a range master reported it.  The ATF got it to do it at least once out of how many rounds but its still illegal.

Check a couple of other builds and they were OK.

If, the spring is in big side up, it (the dis-connector)  can't go "full motion"?

Think I got it now....

OH MAN!  Didn't even think about the ATF issue with the double fire!  Worse yet, I live in California, where the have NO tolerance for firearms violations what so ever.  To make it worse, Veron PD was on the range right next to us.  Only thing separating us was a 6' high dirt berm.  Somebody was watching over me.....

If I were in your shoes, I'd delete this thread. Common sense to do so.

No need since there is no intent to build a MG,  Just an assembly/parts problem that is being resolved.

Absolutely no intent what so ever.  Hopefully, this can help someone else, so they do not make the same mistake that I did.  Had I been intuitive enough, I would have resolved the situation while at the range, but alias I am not that knowable to do that.

Common sense?  Sorry, ain't got none.....

Thank you ALL for your help!
