Just finished a build. Lower half: spikes tactical lower receiver with spikes tactical enhanced lpk. All parts are brand spankin new.

After hitting the magazine release using a 20 round pmag(empty), it doesn't fall free from the lower receiver. It falls the majority of the way except for approximatley 1 inch or so.

Note: A 30 round pmag will fall free. A no name metal mag won't move at all and has to be ripped out.

I removed the magazine catch with same result. Same result with upper and lower seperated as well.

All magazines fall free from my Smith and Wesson M&P 15T.

Any ideas?

Magazines can come made in different tolerances.  USGI issued metal magazines are generally very consistent, generic metal magazines with no markings may work or not as we have seen tolerances all over.  Polymer magazines are fine as well, but you may find that on occasion they come slightly oversized on their exterior and will drag or hang in the magazine wells, some people will find the rub marks on the magazine where it hangs up and will use a little sand paper on it to remove material.  Then there is the occasional lower receiver that has tight magazine well tolerances, of which is something that I recommend inquiry with the manufacturer to see of something is tight in this area.  On a new lower receiver, it may take a little break in time of the magazines rubbing on the magazine well finish to get it smoothed out.  My personal magazine reloading method is that I don't rely on magazines dropping free from a magazine well on any firearm, as I prefer to strip all magazines out of the magazine well to make sure they are clear so I can reload a new magazine.

This isn't this first time I've heard of someone having issues with those 20rnd pmags but no issues with the 30rds, I have no idea what it is but I stay away from'em.
