i have a 12 sbr and every so often my gun will jamb up. it will feed a round into the chamber but the bolt closes on the spent case before it is ejected. also noticed chips on the front of ejection port, where i guess the spent cases have been hitting it. i figured the recoil spring is to strong so i replaced it with a lighter one but havent gotten to test it yet. any other suggestions.

Single loaded round in a mag, the weapon correctly cleaned and lube,  load and fire the round, and confirm that bolt is locking back on the catch via the empty mag.

If it does, then Pull back on the charging handle and confirm that the bolt face does not retract back past the back of ejection port.

Next, install a #60 on the extractor spring to add tension to the extractor to make sure that the spent case is not being dropped from the bolt face before end of stroke.

Lastly, using a spent case off the extractor, work the ejector in and out of the bolt to confirm that the ejector is not binding in the bolt channel, and has clean/strong spring tension.
